FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q. What magazine will my article be published in if I am selected as a winner?
A. Expat Blogs works with magazines in Kuwait by providing them with articles that add that extra spice to their content. Within the next few months, Expat Blogs will also be launching X Mag, a monthly magazine targetted towards expatriates living in Kuwait.

Q. Are you guys for real?
A. No, we're making all of this up.

Q. Is poetry allowed?
A. Yes, you may submit your work as poetry just as long as it's fun and playful to read and includes "Kuwait" as the theme.

Q. How long does the submission have to be? Is there a minimum or maximum?
A. There's absolutely no limit in size just as long as it's catchy. Your submission could be one short paragraph. You could subit a picture attached with a brief comment. Short articles usually reflect humor while long articles reflect deep subject matter. Grab the reader's attention. Try not to have the article to drag on and on and put people to sleep. If you do have a lengthy submission, make sure it grabs the reader's attention throughout the entire article. Always remember, we're not looking for quantity, but quality!

Q. Submitting my material to a "hotmail" email address is a little strange... do you have something more concrete?
A. The main reason for web mail is storage space. Using a Hotmail email address and designating a Yahoo account, expatblogger@yahoo.com gives us more room on external servers to review people's work. On the long run, X Mag will be the dominant contact account and you'll be able to submit your articles to a more suitable xyz@xmagonline.com email address.

Q. How do we know you're really going to pay me if I win and actually have my article published?
A. Upon publishing your article you will be contacted by phone and email to notify you of your winning cash amount. Since we will be launching X Mag within the next few months, our reputation is something that we strive to keep to the utmost level of honor and professionality. All published material will entitle you to your winning amount, guaranteed.

Here's an idea, upload your material on a web server (blogger.com, myspace.com, etc.) which will alow you to have a dated and timed record of when your material was submitted.

Q. Will you be editing or changing my material?
A. In most cases it may be very likely that your work will be edited for magazine publishing (spell check, grammar, punctuation, etc.) . While it may not occur, chances are some content may be changed or added to for editing purposes. Edited material does not change your chances of winning since the only time your work will get into the editing phase is when you have been selected as a winner.

Non-published submissions will be held on file for possible future re-evaluation. All payments will be made in check paid to the order of the author of the article or photograph. Winners will be contacted in accordance with Kuwaiti laws and regulations to proceed with the collection of their funds. Articles may be modified and edited to suit the magazine.
